The company provides ‘specials’ – unlicensed products that have been manufactured to the order of someone authorised to prescribe (such as doctors, dentists or nurse prescribers) for a specific patient in their care. Because ‘specials’ do not go through the same procedure to assess safety, quality and efficacy as licensed products, they can only be made under a licence granted by the MHRA (protectors of public health in the UK).
ITH Pharma also provides a range of veterinary products, pre-filled ophthalmic syringes and a unique product delivery system that allows the pharmacist to set the dose on a standard syringe that is later used on the ward.
