Additional capacity &
future planning

In July 2026, ITH Pharma opened brand new, MHRA licensed, state of the art cleanroom facilities. Considered to be the single largest expansion of compounding capacity in the UK, the new facilities add more than 2 million compounded preparations per year to the current 2 million dose facility already in operation.

More than 2 million compounded preparations per year added

This means that ITH Pharma now operates more than 65 grade A compounding cabinets across three facilities in all four main therapy areas – Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Parenteral Nutrition and CIVAS (antibiotics and pain controlled and all other supported clinical injectables).

ITH Pharma has for many years led the way in aseptic technological advancements with the sole aim of supporting pharmacists and nurses in ensuring patients receive safer, quicker clinical treatments.

The NHS Transformation Unit Report in May 2026 Aseptic Services Review outlined the market need and stated the following:

“Our findings suggest that In the last 5 years dependence on Independent Aseptic Compounders (IACs) has in fact deepened. Contrary to the Carter Report Assessment, latest analysis from NHSE suggests that as much as 60% of aseptic products used in the NHS could be being produced by IACs.”

IACs have fed back that they could expand capacity with the right conditions to secure investment.

There is an opportunity for strategic collaboration to optimise overall system capacity to meet demand and get better value for the NHS.
